Okay so I just realized I seemed to have missed blogging about thing 6 and 7. I will admit that I need to go back and review thing 6 before I write about it but here is thing 7.
My favorite piece of technology that I own is my ditigal camera and my photo printer. I scrapbook a lot so with out these two things I would be lost. Most scrappers know that some of the most unlikely pictures sometimes inspire a page. These are normally the pictures I don't have printed at the store. Before I got my printer I would do the whole page then wait until the next time I was at a store to get the picture printed, that is if I remembered to take it and the printer was working. Now that I have my photo printer I can just print the picture off right then and finish up the page.
The digital camera is wonderful because I often do not really look at what I am taking a picture of. Last year I was up in Maine and while riding on the back of the motorcycle I could just hold my camera up and snap a picture. I in turn have a lot of wonderful scenic pictures of Maine.

Week 5 Thing 12 (Rollyo)
I think Rollyo is wonderful and will save me a lot of time when searching for things, such as lesson plans, online. I always search the same sites for plans and it sometimes takes me forever going through all the diffrent pages.
Rollyo could also be very useful in the classroom if you only want your students to be searching on certain cites. By having them search on a pre-created Rollyo you could be sure they are only searching the sites you wish for the assignment. That is as long as they stay on the correct Rollyo.
My Rollyo is for lesson plans. I search a lot more than the three sites that are here but can not remember them all right now.

Week 5 Thing 11 (award site)
I looked at Upcoming first. This would be nice if you had a large district. Placing events on here and adding a link to it on the web page would allow a lot more people know what is going on at the school/library. It would also be good if one was planning on having a large
I also took a look at Lulu. This would be so neat for the teachers who do the class books at the end of the year. The students could create their page then upload it to Lulu and in a couple of weeks see their work published in a real book. I also like the ability to create your own photo book on line. This would make a great gift for anyone.

Week 5 Thing 10 (image generator)
View my aladdin disney movie comic (make your own HERE)!
This would be great for creating bookmarks and posters for the library. It also would be nice to use in creating a cover for projects or their own books.
alien-running-ufo comic strip
This picture could easily be a story starter. The students would have to first explain who is going to get him and why. They could then add and ending to the story. This would be great to help the students to understand beginning middle and endings of stories.

Week 4 Thing 9 (useful blogs)
I found Google Blog search to be a very broad search. I did like that Google allowed you to choose the time frame of when the blog was posted.
Week 4 Thing 8 (RSS Feeds)
I used the Google Reader. I really liked that they had bundles already made up. It was very easy to use and to add the links I wanted. It was also nice that I did not have to come up with a new account name and password I can just use my gmail account to log in. I also like that is gave a little warning about articles being marked as read when I scrolled passed and told me how to turn the feature off.
In a high school setting if a teacher does current events RSS Feeds would be great because they continuously update on the most current news. I have used RSS feeds in the past, Firefox has them built in when you first download it.

Week 3 Thing 5 (Flickr)
Flickr was a little difficult to find pictures on at first. I did not create and account for it yet. I was browsing though and every time I clicked a picture to look at it would take me to a whole new group of pictures. Also there was no way that I saw to scroll through the picture while they were large. I feel I need to explore the site a bit more and may be I will find it not to be as frustrating as the first time. I'm wondering if creating an account would help.

Week #1 Thing 2 (7 1/2)
I really thought this was a nice lesson. I liked the learning contract. It is a nice way to teach how to make a goal. It also allows for forward thinking. The easiest of the 7 1/2 habits for me, I believe, is to "start with the end on mind". I always am very forward thinking and focus on the future. The hardest of the habits will probably be "viewing problems as challenges". I do get frustrated when a challenge arises in my plans.
Week #2 Thing #3 (blog & avarar)
I enjoy using blogs for classes. They are a great way to communicate and share what we have learned. This site is so nice and easy to set up. For my elementary classes blogs will probably bea little too much.
I also really enjoyed the avatar. It was a lot of fun to create a character of myself. Avatars would be great for students. It allows them to post a picture that looks similar to them but not having to post an actual picture of the themselves. I was a little frustrated with adding the avatar to my blog. I could not get the url to work. I finally just downloaded the picture and then uploaded from my computer.
